The plaques are shaped from clay and other clay pieces are placed on top to create a 3D effect. Then they were left to dry out for a number of days before being smoothed and then painted using tiny brushes before being placed in the kiln for a 24 hour process. Once out the items then receive 2-3 coats of glaze before it's back in the kiln for a 2nd firing.
It is a lengthy process but very satisfying making something completely unique and authentically handmade!
